Wisconsin became a state on Monday, May 29, 1848. After the American Revolution the land became a part of the USA. The wonderful state Wisconsin was named in 1836, Wisconsin means Red Stone River. This was the 30th state to be admitted to America. Before Americans there were lots of Native American tribes living here such as the Dakota, Sioux, Winnebago, Menominee, Potawantomi.
